Squire Sponsors Call for Papers at
2009 APPE Conference

The Squire Family Foundation is sponsoring a Call for Papers at the Eighteenth Annual Meeting of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) which will take place on March 5-8, 2009 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The best paper submitted on pre-college ethics will receive the Squire Family Foundation Award and a check for $1000, presented at the meeting.

Papers are welcome covering a wide range of pedagogical and philosophical issues: they can be analytic and researched-based; describe a pre-college ethics curriculum; propose extracurricular activities such as ethics clubs, essay contests, and ethics bowls, and the creation of school-based ethics centers; and suggest ways that college and university ethics centers can collaborate with area elementary and secondary schools to advance an ethics agenda. Note: You do not need to be a member of the Association to submit a paper.

The Squire Family Foundation will also provide support to invite a distinguished ethicist to address the issue at the Annual Meeting.

The meeting, which will take place at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza Hotel and is open to the public, welcomes people from many disciplines and professions who wish to discuss common concerns in practical and professional ethics.
